Fent Cua / While we waited
2020

Queuing - a forced pause in our daily lives. The in-between time, the non-time, the seemingly banal act that puts our body in a special state, forces us to stop and wait, and puts us in relationships of power or vulnerability, depending on the context and the purpose of queuing.
Fent Cua / While We Waited is a project and performance that draws inspiration and a starting point for research from the situation of queuing. It is a participatory performance by Urša Sekirnik and Joana Serra that puts the audience experience at the centre.
Waiting, this everyday and banal act, soon turns out to be a complex social phenomenon, and by highlighting various aspects and themes related to queuing, the authors open up space and time for reflection on different aspects of waiting and queuing.
A fundamental part of the creative process was the question of how the organisation of crowds, so typical of queuing, can be transformed into a theatrical framework and how this everyday situation can become performative.
The project Fent Cua / While We Were Waiting is produced by the Emanat Institute in partnership with the cultural and artistic association NUM.
