KUD NUM EVENTS IN AUGUST: CONCERTS Boršič/Drašler duo and Bojan Cvetrežnik & Barja Drnovšek (Terrafolk duo)

On Tuesday, 1 August 2023, as part of the In Memoriam of Prof. Peter Hafner #14 festival, we invite you to join us for two concerts by Pr'Pepet: at 7.30 pm, the Boršič/Drašler duo will start the evening, followed at 8.30 pm by Bojan Cvetrežnik & Barja Drnovšek (Terrafolk duo).

19.30: BORŠIČ/DRAŠLER DUO

The duo says of themselves:

"The duo composes instantly while improvising freely.

It proceeds in a non-idiomatic way, while ideas fall out like a cannon.

It pays homage to the masters of free-playing, and in the process, it takes away the misery of its own realisation."

JURE BORŠIČ is a saxophonist of the youngest generation, working between Ljubljana and the Vrtojba Creative Zone. He was trained at the Zvočni izviri music school of renowned local percussionist and drummer, composer and improviser Zlatko Kaučič. He blows, bites, squeaks and squeals in numerous ensembles and is part of the organising teams of the Fri-Fru-Fra concert series and the non-festival Improbiro, among others.

JOŠT DRAŠLER is known as a double bassist, who is active in free improvisation, free jazz, jazz, rock and indie rock bands. While studying musicology, he studied double bass at the Klagenfurt Regional Conservatory. He also studied with the well-known Slovenian improviser Zlatko Kaučič, with whom he participated in his major ensembles, and with his brother Vid Drašler and wind player Mark Karlovčec he forms the fiery free jazz trio DKD Trio. He is a member of numerous other ensembles and in 2018 recorded a solo double bass album The Balloon Catcher. He is also active as an event organiser in Vrhnika and Bistrica ob Sotli.

20.30: BOJAN CVETREŽNIK & BARJA DRNOVŠEK (Terrafolk duo)

BOJAN CVETREŽNIK and BARJA DRNOVŠEK are musicians, masters on violin, double bass and drums, members of the Slovenian ensemble Terrafolk (BBC World Music Award). Bojan was a solo violinist in the Canadian Cirque du Soleil show "Varekai". They are both classically trained violinists, whose journeys take them on a journey to discover different folk music. They perform original compositions, arrangements for violins or just music "without additives".

Instead of studio music production, they devote themselves to breathtaking or more intimate live performances.

Bojan and Barja are the main tutors of the String Dance courses, where young musicians learn about the diversity of violin sounds in European folk, composed and improvised music. They are also guest teachers in various European countries. The youth ensemble "Slovenian Fiddle Gang", which they lead, has already performed in several European countries and attracted the attention of the professional public. Their music reflects the search for what different musical worlds have in common. In this world full of good things, it is difficult to identify with one musical genre, but we can still take the time to experience beautiful, unpredictable moments with live music.

**The event follows our old familiar approach of a voluntary exit fee.

The event is supported by the Municipality of Škofja Loka.
