2014/2015
In 2014, artists Nina Jan and Urška Sekirnik launched a fully functional online shop with bespoke performances(www.a-la-cart.com), where they invite you to become an art enthusiast. On the website, you can commission a performance, tailor it to your own needs or even commission an artistic chapter completely to your liking... which they will perform live for you!
What an absurd idea, you might think.
Is it? Perhaps Nina and Urša are actually forcing us to reconsider the conditions under which contemporary performance makers operate and asking us if we really believe that art, when it is sold, is anything other than a consumer commodity. And that instead of ignoring this, they are looking for ways to pave the way to greater creative autonomy for their artistic practice.
